articulated by senior pastor Eric Scott

“Looking into the heart of God…

I see a city on a hill—a city of light, hope, health, and restoration.  Young people, children, families, singles…divorced, blended families, black people, white people, Hispanic people, native American people—grandparents...coming, going, growing, laughing, playing...crying together—supporting one another.  A home for single moms and their kids...a safe place where no drug dealer or drunk would think of showing his face—I see a place for teens who become pregnant and have nowhere to turn.  I see a counseling service and a life skills center.

I see young men being saved and set free from substance abuse, anger and depravity—I see them mentored and trained in an apprenticeship program—paid to build, repair and maintain the City on a Hill campus.  I see them released to work and serve in their families and communities.

I see a retirement community providing a safe, secure and stable environment for our “chronologically-gifted” folks...giving them an avenue to provide that “grandparent stability” we so badly need in this fractured culture.

I see a family center with basketball courts, racquetball courts, a huge commercial kitchen with up-to-date equipment for fellowship, dinners, parties and good times together.

I see a sanctuary filled with 1500 worshippers—praising, seeking God.  Charged up, excited, filled with expectation—I see young people getting saved weekly—the cross is always lit—I see new believers discipled, ingrafted and plugged into ministry.  I see a children’s ministry for kids from 1 month to 6th grade and a youth ministry that is out of this world.  I see a children’s church and a youth church.  I see a Main St. outreach center and coffee house, a homework lab and a crisis counseling center.

What I see is bigger than me and beyond all of you.  I see a vision from God that excited me, puzzles me and even scares me.  I see a vision, that if God doesn’t “show up” will never be accomplished by any ordinary men.  I see a vision filled with hope and confidence and faith...I see God calling His people to be His bride, at all times, in diverse ways, under all kinds of conditions...without fear of cost, failure or struggle.  I see God’s heart for us and for this community.

That is why we are here...That is what God is saying...That is how it will be…
